Lori McClain is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing culturally sensitive, evidence-based integrative care. Offering outpatient psychiatric medication management, supportive therapy and alternative treatment options for individuals that have struggled with feelings of depression and anxiety. Lori brings extensive experience from across the full spectrum of mental health care, including emergency medicine, crisis stabilization, and residential treatment. This diverse background allows her to approach outpatient care with unique insight and flexibility, meeting clients wherever they are in their healing journey with a harm reduction philosophy.
Lori holds a special clinical focus in reproductive psychiatry, supporting individuals through the unique mental health challenges related to the menstrual cycle, fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause. She was impassioned by the disproportionate statistics of black women dying at a rate of three times their white counterparts and by all women of color experiencing significantly higher risks of maternal/infant death, preterm birth, and low birth weight due to systemic racism, socioeconomic inequities, and biased healthcare access.
She is also adept in treating clients impacted by social media, the political climate, current events, and race relations. Grounded in respect, dignity, and clinical excellence, Lori integrates medication management with a humanistic lens, helping patients navigate anxiety, OCD, mood disorders, trauma, and addiction, always focusing on holistic healing beyond just symptoms. She is very excited about all the alternative treatments for depression and anxiety available currently. She is definitely looking forward to the ones coming in the near future.
Lori’s journey in healthcare began when she worked as a nursing assistant in high school. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University and her Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science.
